We also
offer mini cassette transcription services. Cassettes can be
mailed to us (preferably by recorded or special delivery), or we can
arrange a collection and delivery service in Cornwall. A charge will be
made for collection and delivery dependant on location.
Cassettes are usually returned by Royal Mail unless otherwise agreed, and completed
transcription by email or printed copy if preferred.
Printing
and postage charges are invoiced accordingly. |
|
Collection and
delivery service: |
We
offer a local collection and delivery service in Cornwall for copy
typing and mini cassettes. There is a fee for this service
dependant on location. Please ask for a quotation if you
require this service.
Our transcription
charges are based on the time taken to transcribe and type the work
not on recorded time.
Please bear in mind that
it takes approximately 4 times longer to transcribe work as it does
to record it. For example, if you have recorded 30 minutes of
dictation it may take around 2 hours to transcribe it. Other
factors that may affect transcription time include poor recording,
background noise, unclear instructions, typing onto standard
templates etc.
Any errors or typos are
corrected free of charge.
If you would like a quotation
in advance please
email us with your requirements.
Choose your equipment
carefully. Good quality equipment, and clear recording is key
for efficient transcription and continuous transcription with few
delays. We recommend choosing a digital system - Philips and
Olympus offer excellent quality equipment and value for money.
DO:
Try to record your work in a
good environment - a quiet room with doors and windows closed is
ideal, though we realise not always possible!
Give general instructions such
as fonts and font sizes at the beginning of your recording.
Throughout your dictation
please indicate where full stops and other punctuation are to be inserted as this will
speed up transcription.
Speak clearly and at normal
speaking speed.
Spell names, medical terms,
technical words etc. to avoid typos and mishears.
DON'T:
Use voice-activated recorders,
as this can result in missing words at the beginning of sentences,
or unheard softly spoken individuals.
Use slow speed recording to
save tape space as this can interfere with recording quality.
Record in noisy environments. |
